Love is not only the thing we define it as in our culture — the close, warm, affectionate feelings toward others. The goodwill towards them.
That is only one small thread in the great fabric of love.
Love is the relaxation of all worry and fear, the coming home to wholeness.
Love is the container in us that can hold everything that occurs in life, and hold it all in peace.
Love never rejects what is present, but takes up whatever is present and begins weaving a new future with it.
Love rests in the deep silence of space itself, and is the essential being of the universe.
Fear is not love’s opposite. Fear is more like a burning wound. When love is present, it acts like a balm on the wound, and the burning stops.
