New dog, new house, SoCal event & more…
For me, the past few months have been about nesting: I have a new home, a new neighborhood, and a new (first-ever!) dog.
I’m following a vision with all these changes – you know, the kind of vision that was hard to trust at first, that took a frustrating while to bring into reality, but that is turning out to be so worth the wait.
Our new love, Xavier, 4 year-old rescue with a mellow soul.
After four years of living twenty floors up in a super-urban skyscraper apartment with sleek modern furniture and a view of an concrete jungle (I know…probably hard to picture me living there, right?), my husband and I moved to a big old house, amongst lots of trees. The modern furniture is, bit by bit, getting replaced with rustic flea market finds. It feels so good – and more than good, it feels necessary. Sometimes, change is like oxygen - utterly necessary.

In a couple weeks, I’ll be headed to Los Angeles, where I’m speaking at University of Southern California on women and power; appearing on the KTLA Morning News, and hosting a public event in Santa Monica about an important topic I’m on fire about. I hope you’ll join me if you live in the area.
Most important, these days I’m gearing up to lead the next session of my Playing Big program.
What is that all about? Playing Big is a training program for women who know they want to play bigger in their careers. I devote most of my time and energies to leading this program because I believe that brilliant, visionary women playing big will transform the world.
Playing Big is for women who suspect they are in some way playing small – but aren’t sure how to stop doing that. It’s for women who want their ideas and work to get out into the world in a bigger way – for the sake of their own fulfillment, but also for the sake of making a difference. Hello there Tara… I love your ‘tree change’. I am in Australia, and my hubby and I love our second hand 1960′s furniture, enjoy the process of finding things for your new abode. We are a Burmese cat family ourselves, and having an animal in your life gives you a balance. I talk to my blue boy while I write. Xavier looks like a good listener too
. So hey any chance you might make your way down to Australia, would be lovely to see you here?

Congratulations on your new dog Tara! Xavier looks lovely and your new neighbourhood looks like a great place for dog walking / running. We’re the proud owners of a kelpie / staffie / cattle dog cross called Under and she’s helped us meet many wonderful people up at the park. Enjoy!

I grew up over on Ashbury and Frederick and adore that view.
I have a photo of it taken from around Frederick and masonic, where my aunt still lives.
After 8 years of “exile” in Seattle, I think I am ready to move home. Will be living in a furnished flat in Cole Valley for the month of April to see what I think of the old place and if I might want to live in my beloved city again. Congratulations on the new dog, he is a beauty!

I think I know right where your new place is – is that BV Park? I used to live right there when I lived in SF (now in East Bay) … and walked in BV Park just the other week with my sister and my beloved rescue dog Ella (border collie/german shepard). She is my first ever dog as an adult and fo sho she has changed my life in many ways and has grounded me like never before. I’m sooo excited about your new abode and neighborhood shift … it is hard to imagine you in a downtown loft.
