In the End
In the end
you won’t be known
for the things you did,
or what you built,
or what you said.
You won’t even be known
for the love given
or the hearts saved,
because in the end you won’t be known.
You won’t be asked, by a vast creator full of light:
What did you do to be known?
You will be asked: Did you know it,
this place, this journey?
What there is to know can’t be written.
Something between the crispness of air
and the glint in her eye
and the texture of the orange peel.
What you’ll want a thousand years from now is this:
a memory that beats like a heart–
a travel memory, of what it was to walk here,
alive and warm and textured within.
Sweet brightness, aliveness, take-me-now-ness that is life.
You are here to pay attention. That is enough.

Oh, this is SO lovely, Tara! Thank you for sacred pause of brightness in my day.
Suddenly, I want to dive straight into a difficulty I’ve been feeling today, just so I can say that I really, really KNOW IT!
Beautiful, Tara. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful post Tara. If offered a beautiful pause, to do as it so eloquently evokes; to pay attention.
Lovely. Thank you.

Very profound for me today. Thank you.
“You are here to pay attention.” The whole thing – beautifully written. Thank you!
Tara, This brings me home right now. I’ve been rushing around in my busy and mind all day…why? Where am I going? What is so important as to be willing to live inside such stress?
The work is to pay attention. I feel my feet settle back on the floor, as the earth holds me. Sun shines through the glass onto my lap.
Thank you.

I am so moved by this poem. I have read it over and over, encouraging the words to find a resting spot within me. Thank you.
I like this – you are here to pay attention.
Boiled down to its essence, that’s all we have isn’t it? Nothing else really matters and that IS enough. This is a theme I’ve been noticing in my journaling; this moment will be gone soon grab it now
