Things We Don’t Know Yet

By August 21, 2013 8 Comments

This summer as I’m taking some downtime, I’m sharing some of my favorite and your favorite posts from the archives. Hope you enjoy these selections!

Love, Tara

Things We Don’t Know Yet

Here are some things we don’t know yet:

How to create a childhood worthy of the sacredness of the child

How to forgive ourselves, entirely

How to love without projection or dependence

How to honor the strength of love alongside the strength of might

How much we are held, blessed

What we would create, if we believed we could.

We’re still young, still in an early era.

The status quo is just a middle chapter.

So have compassion for this fools’ world of ours

and don’t be afraid

to be the one

to help us turn the page.

Thank you! I have been trying to decide on creating a blog or not. I am recovering from an eating disorder and I am starting to run again. I want to encourage others to care for their bodies and the magnificent gift that it provides. But I am nervous / anxious / scared about trying, the success of it, and the time it will take.

I love the line: What we would create, if we believed we could.

What if I could not fail….

Tara, I read your work every time I get a new email and, often, it’s refreshing; frequently, it’s a just-in-time reminder that everything is going to be *fine* (really); and occasionally it really wakes me up to being more self-aware. Today is one of those days, following on a small alumnae event last night at Smith College, welcoming Smith’s newest President. She reminded us alumnae of the possibility we felt when we decided on Smith, the magnificent potential we saw in ourselves during many of our days on campus, surrounded by similarly inspiring women. It made me think much more concertedly about the things I’ve been doing–somewhat unconsciously–to undermine myself in a new job, and your writing today underlined that in black Sharpie. Time to get back to who I thought I was and could be when I graduated ten years ago. Thanks!

tara, normally, your writings totally resonate with me. but with this one, my first reaction is: what if we actually DO know?

Wow! Truly amazing and inspiring post! It really made me stop and think about things. Especially the forgiving oneself. Hard to do entirely, in fact I’m still learning how to forgive the “little things” let alone the big ones lol! Thanks for this. 🙂

  • […] I am praying. I have a strong feeling that God will bless either path. I think, though, God may be inviting me to take the wild one. I opened up Tara Sophia Mohr’s email this morning and read these words from a post titled “Things We Don’t Know Yet”. […]
